Robin Williams' Publicist Speaks
It was confirmed yesterday that Robin Williams is in rehab for alcoholism. This is very sad.
If only for The Fisher King, One Hour Photo and Dead Poets Society, I'm a quiet fan of his "better work". The Big White was released on R2 UK DVD this week, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing it. The Night Listener plays at this year's Edinburgh festival.
Robin Williams is one of the more intelligent A-listers in the Hollywood pool, ambitious and genuinely creative. This news has simply reminded me how undervalued he is - very possibly down to his many years of Morking about and all of his exasperating overcranked, fizzing-wire schtick.

Exactly, Corvus. That he is in rehab for alcoholism is bad news. Him not being in rehab but being alcoholic would be infinitely worse.
