Channel 5 in the UK have a cheap and low-cheer movie show called The Movie Lounge that airs on Wednesday evenings, and currently this show is looking for a little bit of audience participation.
Viewers can use an online form to recommend candidates for "The Best Little Cinema in Britain". First up was The Everyman in Hampstead, North London, which is hardly a "little cinema", but it's certainly not a multiplex - or, for that matter, reasonably priced.
So, essentially, they're saying vote for a non-multiplex cinema. That place you think is an independent cinema but really isn't? That's probably just what they're looking for. I voted for The Prince Charles Cinema because it really is a great cinema, with an honourable mention for The Ultimate Picture Palace because sometimes it looks like it could be about to turn into one.
