Little Britain Star Set For BBC Wind In The Willows

According to The Daily Mirror, an upcoming BBC television production of The Wind in the Willows is set to star Matt Lucas as Mr. Toad. An alleged insider is quoted as saying "Matt is over the moon. He's a big fan of the story."

Apparently, production has been on hold since last year while the five million quid budget was haggled over but everything's sorted now. There's no indication yet of when the show will air but my chips are on Xmas, or failing that, Easter 2007.

Pervious attempts to realise Kenneth Grahame's book in moving pictures have yielded mixed, but always less than spectacular, results.

I think David Walliams would make an exceptionally good weasel and as that's just the sort of stunt casting Bank Holiday Specials thrive on, the odds must be good for this being Lucas and Walliams' first reunion post-Little Britain. Cue those "The Only Toad in the Village" and "Not the Only Gay in the Willows" headlines right about now.
