Frankie Muniz Taking New Career Out For A Spin

Having just filmed the final Malcolm in the Middle (Boo! Hiss! I want more Malcolm), Frankie Muniz is ditching the gogglebox for a new flavour of escapade.

Thankfully, not for more films like Stay Alive - though I, for one, thought Frankie did brilliantly in Big Fat Liar.

Nope. He's getting behind the wheel of a big, shiny race car, competing for Jensen Motorsport in Formula BMW. He's also "putting pedal to the metal" (ahem) in the Toyota Pro-Celebrity Race, taking place now on the streets of downtown Long Beach, just minutes from my old stomping ground and really quite near the AMC Pine Square 16, the cinema with the most enthusiastic and vocal, and least holler-resistant audience I've ever sat in the loud, restless middle of.

Mr. Muniz has not outlawed a return to screens in the future, just not in the next couple of years. Good luck to his racing self.

I've started looking forward to the Malcolm reunion special already.
