The Choux Maker And The Rat

I've been let in on a secret-so-far element of the plot to Pixar's Ratatouille.

Apparently, for one section of the film, our hero Remy the Rat is covertly cooking under the cover of night in the kitchen of Auguste Gusteau, celebrated Parisian chef. It seems that, for a bit at least, Gusteau takes the credit as though he himself had made the food. Later it comes clear that Remy was the kitchen whizz, and it doesn't take a genius to see how this helps him attain his dream come true of becoming a chef with his own kitchen.

I reckon this element of the plot sounds rather like that old yarn about The Shoemaker and the Elves, with a dash of Stephen Chow's God of Cookery thrown in for good measure, perhaps. There's bound to be several twists, however, and plenty more going on in the story. Remy won't be so simple and apparently faultless - Pixar are beyond that sort of dreck.

A number of recent reports have quoted Pixar staff as claiming this is shaping up as 'quite easily' their best film yet.
That'd certainly be going some.

The paying public will find out just how true these excited burblings are in June, 2007.
