Illeanarama

Illeana Douglas is starring in her own oh-so-po-mo show, Illeanarama, which premiered this week on the web's premiere low-quality video-sharing site, You Tube. If you're anything at all like me, you need to know no more and have already opened another window so that you might see the episode as soon as possible. This woman has been in Scorsese films and come out looking great: that's the biggest recommendation I can think of for an actor.

The premise of the show is a risky one: Illeana, starring as herself, quits the limelight to work in a Supermarket. Celebrity cameos (just about) abound and a very fine line is walked between self-deprecation and smug back slapping. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now.

Illeana directed the episode herself - as a short film, in fact, which was premiered at the Tribeca fest over two years ago, only now repackaged as a pilot that there's actually a series for it to be a pilot of. Assuming, of course, that there is a series - Zeitbyte will reportedly be hosting the show, but I can't find a single other episode there as yet and it was hard enough to find mention of the first.
