Crazy Love At Magnolia

The first announced deal at Sundance this year has been brokered. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Magnolia paid a medium-level six-figure sum for the rights to Crazy Love, a documentary by Dan Klores and produced by Fisher Stevens.

The story told is that of a couple planning to get married. When the chap in the partnership thought he was losing his future bride he had acid thrown into her face to blind her. Unsurprisingly, he then spent 16 years in prison but then, curiously, the couple met up again on his release and eventually did marry.

I can see the marketability of such a widely relatable idea.
