Something Wicked This Way Comes

Filmmaking just keeps getting better and better. Well, at the very least, the best of filmmaking does - I'm not so sure about the average standard, it may well in fact be slipping. All the same, by my reckoning, the best of what 2007 has to offer us could well compete with, if not trump, the historical bests already admitted to the canon.

Hopefully, some of the year's best films will be unexpected -
Little Miss Sunshine was barely on my radar 12 months ago and went on to bowl me over - but there is plenty that already looks incredible from this distance.

I'll cheat and add more films to this post as I think of them/pick them from other lists. Any suggestions, then please pop them into the comments below. And be aware, that while any number of these films might have been released somewhere in the world already, they haven't been unleashed in my native England.

I can't watch that many films, I especially can't watch Stardust twice!

Really looking forward to Science of Sleep though, the trailers look amazing, also in that list will try and catch Half Nelson and The Fountain, and I have seen Last King of Scotland (hated it) and Notes on a Scandel (bearable, but only because it was a free preview!)
