Aint It The Joker?

Aint it Cool have posted what appears to be a make-up test for Heath Ledger as The Joker. Nore interesting than that however (you can see it below, anyway) will be their Talkback. Let's see what the Batfans make of it.

My reaction? Meh. It's hardly revolutionary, it's hardly an offense to the eyes. Does look a little The Crow-ish, but I dare say there'll be a lot of things putting the finished film off track far more than any make-up job.

Looks fine by me, and pretty much what I was expecting.

Well, this may be the first time I've ever agreed with the majority of the infamous 'talkbackers' but, after seeing this pic, I'm a little underwhelmed. Spot on about the Crow and Ichi, which I hadn't even though about until now.

I'm wondering how he'll look properly lit, and is this his costume?

So much of the Joker is how Heath creates the character. Of course give me bite and I want the whole steak. I want to hear dialogue now.

Guys, it's clear that Nolan is referring to the original inspiration for the Joker, Hugo's "man who laughs" and his scarred smile. Way before the Joker.

Well, I can see that for sure... that factored into my meh.

I think they should drop the eye-shadow and enhance the scar a bit. The eyeshadow is what is really distracting to me.

I mean, I guess it's hard to say. Who knows what Nolan and his cinematographer can make it look like. But the eyeshadow is the part I like the least because it does make him look like The Crow and, as the Talkbackers put it, some pansy-ass My Chemical Romance fan.

Why are you so negative on this film? And if you have info on why this film may go "off track" share it...I hope it's more than just YOUR opinion of the sides you posted.

Huh? What are you on about? I'm confused.

I said "but I dare say there'll be a lot of things putting the finished film off track far more than any make-up job."

Of course that's not based on some inside knowledge they're about to slash the budget or anything. It's based upon the really quite bad last film.

People like Batman Begins. But it was pretty rubbish.

The plotting was illogical, the characterisation simple and the camera and editing... well, as mediocre as any other Nolan film.

I simply can't get it up for this guy's films. The Bale take on Batman - laughable voice and all - really didn't help matters.

That's my opinion. What's yours?

(Note: 'yours' in lower case, not in upper case as per the comment above - apparently suggesting my opinion is somehow not worthy of expression)

Batman On Film got in touch with Warner Bros and they confirmed the pictures on AICN are fake.

I liked Batman Begins, myself.

But minority opinions such as your own are fair enough, so by all means feel free snipe away at each new leak.

Looks like this pic was a fake. Somebody photoshopped orlando bloom mixed with heath ledger. LOL. I was so fooled! I use photoshop all the time, and this is pretty seemless. When you see the images, it makes sense. This was a good fake!!!

Andy, please. Read all of my posts on Dark Knight again and see how cautiously optimistic I am being.

I'm not sniping. I might be critical, but I'm not just taking pot shots at the thing.

I've said dozens of positive things about it. Sure, I've said dozens of negative things too...

And you do also seem to be attacking my dislike of Begins on the basis of it being a minority opinion. Your tone is hard to read there, but... whoah!

The bottom line is: Begins has a massive fanbase and many collected kudos, but nobody has ever been able to answer my criticisms of the film. So they still stand.

Well, what's your criticisms?

Here's one to get started with - and a tongue-in-cheek one, maybe, but please, answer if you can:

Why does Bale talk in a funny voice when hes Batman? I thought he wanted to be frightening, not funny.
