Is Die Hard 4.0 Smoking?

According to Variety, the smoking of cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos and pipes is to now effect the MPAA's rating process. I hope for everybody's sake that there's not too much puffing on cancer sticks in Die Hard 4.0 or their sought after, somehow controversial PG-13 status will be in doubt.

In another couple of years, I'm sure the MPAA will make fast food in films a crime as well. Oh no, under the new rating system, Spiderman 2 would be an R for gratuitous scenes of pizza.

Well I think Bruce says he doesn't smoke in the new flick. But I think people are blowing this out of proportion. It seems like it would take a pretty massive amount of teenage drinking to push a PG-13 film to an R, so the same thing will apply here -- this is more an acknowledgement and warning of content than it is actually a factor that will have an impact on the rating.
