Movie Minesweeper - The Baby Beau Bulletin Edition

Kurt Sutter, Awaken the Dragon, Patrick Swayze, Kris Kristofferson, Eddie Redmayne, Powder Blue, Andrew Bujalski, Sam Harper, No Place Like Home, Chris Noth, Sex and the City, Reece Thomspon, Bruce and Rumer Willis, Mischa Barton, Alec Baldwin, Howard Deutch, Bachelor No. 2, Edgar Wright, Superbad, The Wackness, Jonathan Levine, Mary-Kate Olsen, Josh Peck, Famke Janssen, Ben Kingsley, Colin Hanks, Anna Faris, Monet Mazur, Beverly D'Angelo, The Notorious B.I.G, David Rosenthal, The Golden Door, Rachael Leigh Cook, Snoop Dog, Andrew Currie, Will Arnett, Space Invader, Mark Smith, The Hole, McG, Maintenance, Voltron, Zack and Miri, Kevin Smith, Rosario Dawson, Thor, Matthew Vaughn, Ross Noble, Hitman, The Zombie Diaries, Frightfest.

- Warner's
remake of Enter the Dragon is to be called Awaken the Dragon and has The Shield's Kurt Sutter in place as writer-director. This version is to be noir infused, apparently, and Sutter promises an unkown and an established star as the two leads, a Shaolin Monk and an FBI agent respectively.

- Patrick Swayyze, Kris Kristofferson an
d Eddie Redmayne have joined the cast of Powder Blue. I'm predicting this one will be very, very bad.

- Is Russell Crowe to play the main Klingon villain in Star Trek? Probably not.

- Andrew Bujalski has wrapped his latest film, shot in Austin where he revealed a little about it: "It's chatty, using a small crew and unprofessional actors. I won’t know what it’s about until it’s all put together.”

- The production of Sam Harper's No Place Like Home sounds quite unusual. The film is to be partly financed by the video sharing site Vidshadow, who will also be marketing the film quite heavily. They will also be filming 12 weekly bulletins of B-roll footage and interview material and then syndicating this to over 16 thousand partner sites. Even further to that, they are creating two online video clips that will be featured in the movie - the opening scene and something they're calling the 'Dancing Legs' sequence. Apparently, two On the Lot finallists are on Vidshadow's team.

- Chris Noth has finally signed a deal to play Mr. Big in the Sex and the City movie.

- Reece Thompson has won the title role in The Sophomore. Bruce Willis, Rumer Willis and Mischa Barton are also in the cast for debut director Brett Simon.

- Alec Baldwin will co-star in Howard Deutch's Bachelor No. 2.

- Edgar Wright has interviewed the stars of Superbad. In the other direction, Seth Rogen has been saying nice things about Shaun of the Dead.

- The Olsens continue to go their own ways: Mary-Kate has signed on to appear in The Wackness, a pot/therapy romantic comedy with Ben Kingsley, Famke Janssen, Olivia Thirlby, Josh Peck and Method Man. The film's director is Jonathan Levine, who also gave us All the Boys Love Mandy Lane. Are you a fan of pot/therapy romantic comedies?

- Colin Hanks, Monet Mazur and Beverly D'Angelo have joined the cast of the-supposedly untitled Anna Faris playboy/sorority house comedy. I think it's going to be called House Bunny, however. But that might change. As ever.

- Want to play Christopher Wallace, aka the Notorious B.I.G? Then submit your casting videos to BiggieCasting from 3am EDT this Sunday.

- David Rosenthal's The Golden Door is a romantic comedy about a doorman. Set to star are Rachael Leigh Cook and Sarah Roemer with Snoop Dogg and Joseph Cross in final negotiations to join them.

- Fido's Andrew Currie is to direct the Will Arnett vehicle Space Invader. This one's about following his love interest into orbit to win her back from an astronaut rival.

- Vacancy scribe Mark Smith has sold his spec script The Hole to Benderspink. Less like the previous The Hole than The Gate, maybe, this is about two brothers finding a hole - you don't say - that leads to their 'worst nightmares'.

- McG is to produce - and may direct - a film version of the comic Maintenance. The plot revolves around two lowly grunts at a massive arms and technology company that supplies supervillans (and possibly self-thwarting coyotes?). Forget the fact that they're putting all human life at risk for dollars - these two bluecollar schmoes may, in fact, be the only two people who can save the world. Quitting their jobs might be a good start.

- New Regency are about to greenlight a Voltron film.

- Matthew Vaughn has finalised his deal to direct Marvel's Thor.

- Vue cinemas are to screen live feed of a Ross Noble gig in October this year. Punters who want to see the comedian at their local picturehouse will be taxed a total of ten pounds per head - so, apparently, it's supposed to have higher value than a standard screening of a feature film. Ridiculous.

- Movieweb have the teaser poster for Hitman.

- Kevin Smith has revealed that the part of Zack, as in ...and Miri Make a Porno, has been written for an actor he hasn't worked with before. I'll gamble on Jay Baruchel. He's also now considering a new collaboration for the Miri role, seeing as Rosario Dawson bailed for Eagle Eye.

- Revolver are trying to break a Zombie world record to promote the Frightfest screening of The Zombie Diaries.

I could probably "black up" to play Biggie Smalls.

Hey, if the Shakespeareans can do it, why can't I?
