Movie Minesweeper - Brendon's Unwell Edition

- Gerald McMorrow's futuristic thriller Franklyn is set to star Ryan Phillippe, Bond Babe Eva Green and new kid on the block Brit Sam Riley best known so far for his turn as Ian Curtis in Control.

- Robert Beeson has left Artificial Eye.

- R Media has rescued Jan De Bont's $40 mm John Cusack pic Stopping Power.

- Singapore throws its hat in the ring with Royston Tan's 881 for a best foreign language Oscar. Canada opts in with Denys Arcand's Days of Darkness. Germany's hoping for the best with Fatih Akin's The Edge of Heaven.

- We've always loved her. Kathy Bates has received the 2007 Mary Pickford Award.

- Rodar y Rodar have lined up two English-language Spanish films: Guillem Morales' Julia's Eyes and The Orphanage screenwriter Sergio Sanchez' directorial debut The Homecoming.

- Rupert Sanders is signed on to direct Hollywood Gang's remake of 1978's The Wild Geese.

- A bevvy of Hollywood's favorites, including Bette Midler, Cloris Leachman, Carrie Fisher, Lynn Whitfield, Joanna Gleason, Ana Gasteyer and Debi Mazar, have joined the still all-female cast of Diane English's The Women.

- Matt and Billy Eddy have been sourced to write a comedy vehicle for Whitest Kids U'Know's Trevor Moore based on the NY Times story Hey Coach, Do You Need a Timeout? by Warren St. John.
