Movie Minesweeper - The Positive End Of A Tired Battery Edition

- Has Sarah Jane Dunn, "off Hollyoaks", been given a Joker-lovin' role in The Dark Knight? Looks like it. I saw the link at AintItCool.

- Of course Tarantino is peeved by Eon's attitude over Casino Royale. He did make it very well known that Royale should be Bond 21, and he was very publically rebutted by them and then they did it anyway. I'm happy that Casino Royale is the best Bond film so far but I think, first of all, that Tarantino deserves some credit here, and secondly, that he'd have done an even better job.

- Rich Johnston's Flying Friar is now in colour, and the first 11 pages are online.

- Disney have their eye on the upcoming Clone Wars CG series, with a view to screening it.

- IGN have shared some of M. Night Shyamalan's thoughts on adapting Avatar: The Last Airbender from an interview featured on the cartoon version's upcoming DVD.

- Tom Cruise has made his first official comments about Valkyrie.

- The viral Shoot 'Em Up marketing continues to crop up, and the latest site is really quite amusing.

- The Redacted bashing has begun. One piece at The Daily Standard promises to undermine the film, and also illustrate how 'Hollywood hates the troops' Of course, it doesn't do either of these things at all. Idiots. Hateful idiots.

- Some on-set snaps from The Happening have appeared online. The scene being shot comes very early in the film and is quite shockingly violent. These are the first moments in the film - just a couple of minutes in - where the threat that hangs over all of our characters is first revealed.

- The Hammer studio's comeback horror film, From Beyond the Rave, is apparently to be serialised for online and mobile phone viewing. No film I've seen that was ever distributed in both of these ways (and they aren't many, to be fair) has ever been any good. At all. It seems to be last-ditch distribution and funding acquisition plans for a project that simply can't get off the ground any other way. I saw the link at Dread Central.

- Sean Bean was recently cast in Stephen Milburn Anderson's The Cache, which has just undergone a name change. New title: The Root of All Evil.

- Henson-inspired comics are cropping up all over. Volume 1 of Legends of the Dark Crystal and Volume 2 of Return to Labyrinth are now both available for pre-order.

If you think Taratino would have made a better Casino Royale, well all you have to do is look at how misshapen and messy his last few films are. Tarantino sounds like an egomaniac, why the hell should he be consulted by the producers of any film he's not even involved in? What a twat.

I don't think they should have consulted him, just have acknowledged his input. He sparked the idea off, they said it couldn't be done... and then did it and didn't even admit he'd suggested it in the first place.

...but he wasn't being paid for any input, ideas are always passed around like this in Hollywood. It's not like Tarantino wrote or owns the book Casino Royale, it was the last and only Bond book that had not been made into an official series film, it wouldn't take a genius to suggest making it. The success of Casino Royale is that it was decently made without any involvement from Tarantino. Maybe that's the part he doesn't like.

Maybe it is. But that doesn't absolve Eon of any charges of hypocrisy or, simply, bad manners.
