Win! Win Something Good! The Really, Really Simple Once Competition

If you would like one of three copies of the soundtrack CD for Once, all you have to do is jump through a couple of wide, low hoops. This won't be tricky at all.

First of all, you need to live in the UK. That's so easy, even I can do it. Okay, maybe that's a slightly higher, narrower hoop, but it's hardly a flaming
one.

Secondly, you need to reply to one of the film ick daily newsletters. There's a subscription form in the right hand column if you haven't signed up yet, and as soon as you've signed up and replied to the confirmation e-mail (check your bulk!) you'll start getting one e-mail a day from the site keeping you fully up to date, not to mention eligible for contests and the like.

The newsletter you reply to needs to be either today's or one from any of the next four days. I need your reply by the time I go to bed on Thursday 18th October - so that'll be about 11pm GMT. All you need to put in the reply is your name, the words ONCE COMPETITION and the UK mailing address you'd like your CD sent to.

Once is released in cinemas across the UK on Friday 19th October; the US DVD is hitting in December; the rumoured-to-be-better UK DVD... well, in the new year.

This is well worth your effort because these songs were very possibly the best thing in a really rather good film. You can read my review from a while back now, if you need a little more convincing.

Win 2 Limited Edition Spider-Man 3 Posters

For some reason, Blogger keeps crashing every time I try to post this story - so I'll keep it short. Here's the stripped down, can't-believe-I'm-typing-this-again version:

K-Mart are offering a set of 2 limited edition and eminently collectible Spider-Man 3 posters to one lucky competition winner. If you aren't the lucky winner, you'll have to get to K-Mart in a hurry - the first poster is only available until this Sunday inclusive (29th April), the second only until next Saturday inclusive (5th May). After that... well, you don't really want to be forced to pay e-bay prices, do you? Get your skates on, poster afficianados.

To win a pair of posters, all you have to do is look at the Spider-Man 3-related image at the bottom of this post and then identify the film ick news story it originally appeared in. E-mail me with the headline to that story before midnight next Tuesday, 1st May - and we'll say that's US West Coast Time to give you late risers a chance.

The winner will be announced on Wednesday.

Science Of Sleep Dreaming Competion

I received the below e-mail, and as the notice it gives is somewhat short, I thought I'd post in verbatim, prettyy much in it's entirety. Read on to see how you can win some Science of Sleep goodies - including a poster signed by Michel Gondry.

Hi Brendon,

I'm writing to you as you cover what's going on in the world of film and I thought you might be interested in a competition we're running for Michel Gondry's Science of Sleep release here in the UK.

We're asking people to send in images or video capturing their dreams, we launched it rather late considering the film is being released in 5 more days here, but already there have been some really great entries. Have a wee gander at www.dreamblog.co.uk

The competition is open to anyone, with the first prize being a poster of the movie signed by Michel Gondry, and 2 tickets to an exclusive screening at the Warner offices here in London on Valentines day. There are 10 runner up prizes of a pair of tickets each to see the movie at the same exclusive screening. Even if people take part outside the UK they stand a chance of winning the signed poster!

Taking part in the competition is really easy, people can either email their captured dreams from their mail client or MMS direct from their phones to dream@moblg.net where the picture/video will be posted instantly for all to see and comment on.

I hope this sounds like something interesting to you and your readers!

I think it probably does.

Tideland Competition Winners

If you entered the Tideland competition, here and now is where you found out if you won.

The winners are: Steve Bennet, Luke Schofield and Daniel James - those were the names written on the three pieces of folded up scrap paper that I first pulled out of the tupperware tub.

Congratulations to you three, the DVD will be on it's way to you almost immediately.

Tomorrow, I'll be posting my review of the Tideland 2-Disc set, released on R2 DVD in the UK by Revolver entertainment, and filling you in on all of the special features. Stay tuned.

Win A Copy Of Tideland On DVD

Courtesy of Revolver Entertainment, I have 3 copies of Terry Gilliam's Tideland to give away on R2 UK DVD. These are each coming as a brilliant 2-disc set that includes Vincenzo Natali's documentary Getting Gilliam, a commentary track on the feature itself with Gilliam and co-writer Tony Grisoni, and plenty more (think Criterion but cheaper).

In case you're new to
film ick, let me tell you that Tideland was ranked number one in our Top Ten Films of 2006.

In order to win your copy of the DVD, take a look at the three images way down below, at the bottom of this post. Each one has appeared in a story here on film ick. What I'm looking for is the headline to each of those posts. Clever use of the search box at the top of the page may help you, or you may prefer to sift by hand. En route, you may even learn something about the wonderful world of the movies. Don't say I don't ever do anything for you.

Put the three headlines in an e-mail, and send them over by 5pm on January 19th, 2007. Include your mailing address too - so we'll know where to send the prize if you;re lucky. I'll then pull the lucky winners' names out of my Yahoo-branded cyber hat, and before you know it, the DVDs will be in the mail and on the way to the lucky few. Unfortunately, only those with a UK postal addess can win this contest, but everybody is welcome to enter. That's the best I can do for an open door policy on this one. Crying shame for most of you, I'm sure.

Happy hunting. I'll announce the winners here before 22nd January 2007.
