Capone Caged

A print ad for the upcoming Untouchables prequel, Capone Rising, is to appear in the special Cannes edition of The Hollywood Reporter. According to MTV, they've seen it, and it features a shot of Nic Cage as Capone and the legend 'Starring Nicolas Cage'. Superb.

De Palma is directing once again, and Brian Koppelman and David Levien have written the script. I love their Ocean's 13 script, and before that I loved their Rounders, Runaway Jury and Tilt scripts too.

And...Next!

Next is based upon a story by Phillip K. Dick and features Nic Cage and Julianne Moore. Sounds great - then you see Lee Tamahori is the film's director and there's a sound like a rapidly deflating balloon in your ears.

The film's TV spot from Taiwan is now on line and looks okay. Not exactly Paycheck, but not exactly Imposter either. And the less said about Minority Report the better. Let's put Next on a par with Screamers and be done with it.

Mike Markus sent us the link.

Sadhu Wheels In Motion

Gotham Chopra has told the AP that The Sadhu will shoot in India early in 2008, with Nic Cage still in place as the lead. In the original comics, the mortal form of this Sadhu chap is James Jensen, an Englishman. Can Cage do the accent? Will he try anyway?

Shekhar Kapur is the director attached, which is promising.

Rock 'Em Sock 'Em

I'd find it so much more amusing if the blue guy was voiced by Nicolas Cage and the red dude was Jon Travolta. Click for extreme expansion and roll out.

Cronenberg On Cage

According to David Cronenberg, Nicolas Cage is interested in the latest remake of The Fly. He told E! "From what I hear, Nic Cage wants the part." Cronenberg is not involved in the film, but is understandably keeping abreast of its development.

But who is going to play Brundlefly in the Fly musical, David?

Fake News About Fake Trailers?

Horror Movies are running some little bits and pieces about the fake trailers Rob Zombie and Eli Roth have shot for Grind House, and I'm not sure I believe it all - despite really wanting to.

According to their report, Rob Zombie's fake trailer is for Werewolf Women of the S.S and features (please, please, please let this be true) Nic Cage as Fu Manchu. On the downside, I guess that puts Patricia Arquette out of the running for a turn as Ilsa.

More plausible - and in fact, true - is the news that Roth's fake film is called Thanksgiving and will be very, very messy indeed.
