Get Free Walk Hard Stuff In The Mail
Give Sony Pictures your real-world address and, if you're in the US, they'll mail you some Dewey Cox merchandise to promote Walk Hard. Be sure to let me know what you get. A T-shirt would be nice, wouldn't it?

film ick scored a big hit with the Walk Hard trailer over the last day or say. Now the high-def versions have gone wide.
Choose from 480p, 720p or 1080p. Right click to save and retitle the file something like looksevenbetterinhighdef.mov to ensure it works.

I tried to get the thing to upload as a video podcast and failed, but you can now download the Walk Hard trailer trailer directly (from some folks who borrowed it from me), or directishly from the Sendspace page where it was living until then.
I like the trailer a lot. You'll see Jack White as Elvis, three of the Beatles (including Paul Rudd as John Lennon but not Jack Black as Paul McCartney, obviously a barnstormer being kept back for later) and get a good idea of the smart and witty cinematography. I was already looking forward to this - now I'm actively excited.
See a number of captures from the trailer below. Or, while you're here, why not check out some other recent stories, or learn what a Movie Minesweeper is? We're very proud of film ick - take a good look around, this is a movie site you'll like.
[EDIT: Direct download links for the high-def versions now added]

Jake Kasdan's Walk Hard is starting to sound quite odd. We already knew it was a fake biopic of Dewey Cox, a rock and roll god played by John C Reilly who somehow seems to intersect with most of music history from the 50s onwards - but did we know it was going to feature the ghost of a ten year old as another key character? I've been made privy to a really interesting nugget...
Early in the film, the young Dewey and his brother Nate are playing a game they call Machete (catchy - somebody should make a film with that name) when Dewey 'accidentally' kills Nate. So far so sane - but then, later, Nate keeps reappearing. He's still a ten year old, but he's grown very embittered. He's almost Dewey's conscience - but don't think Jiminy Crickett, this is more Baby Herman.
Sounds like a plum role for a kid to nab, so congratulations to Chip Hormess who has won it. I'm expecting Kasdan and Judd Apatow to make a great combination and really deliver with this film. Are you?

Aint it Cool are telling me that Crispin Glover and Jennifer Connelly have joined the voice cast for Shane Acker's 9. That's in addition to the four fellows we named for you in February: Elijah Wood, Martin Landau, John C Reilly and Christopher Plummer. Well done Acker.

Produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov, Shane Acker's 9 is likely to be one of the more distinctive animated films of the coming year or so. Based on Acker's short, from which I've taken the images above (go on - click on them, they're huge and very detailed) the feature-length expansion is currently being animated in Luxembourg by Attitude Studios.
Anybody who has seen the original short 9 will know that none of the characters talk - however, this isn't to be the case in the feature version. Speaking to Cartoon Brew's Amid Amidi at an Animation Show Q&A, Acker announced the four lead voice actors and they were Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, Elijah Wood and John C. Reilly.
A superb roster. I don't know if Acker has the storytelling chops to sustain a complex narrative over feature length but he's certainly very strong on the atmospherics.
