The Omen Remake Already Scaring Daytona Beach

According to the Daytona Beach News Journal, a recent publicity stunt for the upcoming remake of The Omen backfired and left the community genuinely shaken up.

A small plane weaved about their skies, trailing a banner that read "6/6/06 YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED." Of course, this was misconstrued as a terrorist threat and several of the locals quickly turned in calls to the FBI.

The new Omen launches on the 6th of June this year - in case you hadn't worked it out - and features Julia Styles and Liev Schreiber as the earthly parents of satan's spawn. The silly - but still, effectively silly - teaser trailer features our first look at little devil boy Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick in action, staring right down the lens and giving the less stable of us the heebie jeebies.

As a final Omen lead for you, see that director John Moore revealed his ideal poster for the film exclusively to Fangoria. I appreciate the vivid, graphic starkness, but not the over riding whiff of cheese. Cheese that is trying too hard. Fingers crossed (and then inverted) that the film itself is more than a daft, kitschy romp.
