Mark Romanek On Music And The Movies

The Reel Minute is a new show on Indie 103.1 dedicated to exploring the influence of music on the movies, and vice versa. Presented by Amanda Scheer-Demme, a club promoter and, aptly, music supervisor for film productions, the show has featured contributions from Danny Elfman, Paul Thomas Anderson, Joaquin Phoenix, Jim Sheridan, Jon Favreau and, wonderfully, Mark Romanek. He was the director of One Hour Photo (underappreciated), Static (M.I.A) and countless masterful music videos (compiled on a Director's Label DVD which is a truly essential purchase).

You can listen to Romanek's segment online now.

Once you're done with that, you can watch his latest iPod spot, and join me in shedding a few tears for the demise of his cherished Diane Arbus biopic, knocked out of production by Steven Shainberg's competing Arbus movie, Fur.
