Deeper Details Of That Spider-Man 3 And Mysterio Story

Apparently, I'm now told by my very dependable source, the appearance of Bruce Campbell as Quentin Beck in Spider-Man 3 is to play out something a little like this:

Peter Parker finds out about a Spider-Man movie being made and goes to the set to check it out. Avi Arad and Sam Raimi have cameos as the producer and director. Quentin Beck is the movie's special FX guy. The fact that Peter and MJ are both in the public eye - though one can never reveal that he is - is milked for a little bit of fun too.

This brief cameo appearance by Beck is just about the full the breadth and depth of the "4th villain" mystery. That makes this a genuine spoiler, I suppose.

We saw all the pics of the Spideyfest and all of the merchandise and kids in Spidey costumes - and I presume this movie ties in with all of that Spidey-Mania.

I'm starting to feel a little Spider-Maniacal myself. Roll on May 2007 - but in the meantime, check out one of my older stories for the biggest, juiciest collection of Spider-Man 3 information you're going to find anywhere.

so who plays Spiderman in the movie in the movie?

Good question. I have asked, of course... and if I get an answer worth running, I'll run it.

wouldn't it be something if it was Jake Gyllenhall ?

I gotta say I doubt it. That's a bit from Ultimate Spider-Man #55, "Hollywood." That story was made to coincide with the release of Spider-Man 2. Raimi's lack of emphasis on Ultimate Spider-Man as a source makes me quite skeptical, especially because it's such an obvious way to repeat what's been done before.

Anyone notice that Milo Ventimiglia from "heroes" could easily pass for Tobey Maguire for future movies and be much cheaper than Jake :)

I don't think so because it doesn't make any spider sense at all.In the first place, it is idiotic to have Venom. This character is jumping ahead over 200 issues.Remember there was a crisis that involved many other marvel heroes in which Spidey gets his costume tattered then he gets the symbiote suit. Then when the costume gets bonged off Venom happens. Sandman,Lizard and Vulture should be in this last one!

...ditch the 4th villian idea! They should bring out his spider tracer (operates off GMRS or a frequency Peter invents)

I must say that I am concerned. Many people have made claims about what's going to happen in this movie, and the only "proof" they provide is they say they "know someone who's involved with the movie," or something like that, which is hardly conclusive (no offense). Most times, what they say is false. Then again, very few of those rumors made it past the message boards and reached multiple online news sources. However, the rumor that there were test screenings for Spider-Man 3 spread like wildfire and that turned out to be false. I really like the idea of Bruce as Quentin Beck, and I want to believe it, but for the time being I'm going to wait for confirmation by an official source before I get all psyched up.

Are people really still clinging to the "it's not this way in the comics!" complaint? Guess what, it is a movie. Much like different iterations of every character can come out in the comics ("Ultimates" "Uncanny" "Astonishing" etc), the movies can live in their own world. Grow up, take a broader view of the world, and enjoy the fact that you get a new Spidey story to enjoy separately with the classic comic story.

I come across as harsh, but I only hope to enlighten or encourage people to allow themselves to enjoy every incarnation of their favorite stories without binding themselves to one gospel truth.

*grow up might be a bit harsh, but at least evolve your narrow-sighted view of the world.

This sounds very much like the story line from the "Hollywood" arc from the Ultimate Spiderman comic book series. In fact, it is exactly like the Hollywood story arc from Ultimate Spiderman and so I am very far from believing this information to be true.

I believe the movie/actor version of Spidey will be Eddie Brock... he wants to portray the part of Spiderman so well, that he follows him around and discovers who he is and this in turn changes Eddie Brock the actor (creative licsense) into his classicaly jelaous and wrathful approach, witnessing Spidey as a fraud. Symbo-Spidey starts doing some less than Neighborly and Friendly...

its hunch...

typical lameass superhero sequel mistake. Overload the movie with villains to make it different from the previous one, and totally lose focus.

It would be common courtesy to say that you are posting a "genuine spoiler" before you give the details, fuck nuts.

As if "Apparently, I'm now told by my very dependable source, the appearance of Bruce Campbell as Quentin Beck in Spider-Man 3 is to play out something a little like this:" doesn't constitute a spoiler warning.

Raimi is trying to work in the Sinister Six for major fanboy glee. Lizard, Green Gob, Venom, Sandman, Mysterio and (wait for it) Dr. Octopus.

Lizard, Green Goblin and Venom were not part of the Sinister Six. It was Electro, Kraven and Vulture.

Ok, so lets assume that Raimi hasn't read Ultimate Spiderman for source material...as I understand things HE isn't the one writing the script. So, if some screen writer, who DID read Ultimate Spiderman, incorporated a Ulti S-Man story line in the Movie script a) how would Raimi know b) so what...
I thought the main topic here was Bruce as Mysterio. If it's true there will be no force on earth stopping me from seeing this movie in the theater.
And please, dont turn this into a classic "nerd war", comeon...

Ok ar-tard, the sinister six in the ultimate series was Green Gob,
Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman,Kraven, and spider man himself. But yes the original were Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman, and Vulture.

And incase you haven't noticed the movies have more closely followed the ultimate series even though raimi apparently hasn't been using the ultimate spider man as a resource.

Followed up rumor is that with the intro of gwen stacy (just incase the movie isn't already filled to the brim with villains) at the end we may get a taste of carnage.

Here's what i heard of the villain roster thus far:
1.Venom
2.Hob goblin (or harry's version of the green bog)
3.sandman
4.lizard man
5. mysterio
6. Electro
7. Rhino

Now villains like Rhino and mysterio are short incidents rather than good guy/bad guy showdowns. These villains wouldn't be conflicts for spiderman meerly bad guy encounters in the story. Much like the spiderman wannabe who robbs banks as spiderman than kills captain stacey, this is needed to push gwen and parker together.

As for Doc ock, i don't see him coming back for the sinister six seeing as he was killed off in the second one and yes i know they could bring him back in so many ways but if you remember they made dock ock more human and helpful to spiderman and not exactly vengeful anymore.

My only concern for the future of comic movies is crossovers. I think it's a horrible idea. The justice league alone is a bad idea and thank god batman VS superman never happened. Spiderman though is the center of marvel and has the most connections and crossovers in it's series. The next big connector is S.H.I.E.L.D. and they already make a nick fury movie with (lol) hasselhauf. Doc. Ock. Was in SHIELD prison along with the would be sinister six that's how they meet and that in most ways fuels ock's anger toward spiderman.
