Lyra Unveiled
Are you sitting comfortably, His Dark Material fans? Then I'll begin. Look up there. Courtesy of the CBBC Newsround page, we're getting our first official look at the Golden Compass adaptation.
That's Lyra Belacqua, as played by Dakota Blue Richards, facing off with Marisa Coulter, as played by Nicole Kidman, while somebody out of focus looks on from the background.
I'd have thought that's Simon Callow, wouldn't you? I can't find any mention of him being cast in the film, but then, details are still a bit thin on the ground. I do hope it's not Daniel Craig.
Who remembers the book well enough to tell me at least which character it is?

If you squint, it kinda looks like Terrence Stamp.
It's probably the master of Jordan College, who is played by someone called Jack Shepherd, or so Philip Pullman said on his website last month.
