And The Winner Is...

According to Stephen Fry, the British do Awards shows better than the Americans. I wonder if The Baftas might be betraying a vested interest here?

But are The Baftas a better show than The Oscars? Well, truth be told, Fry's not really wrong - the script is a bit wittier, generally, and Stephen is about as good a host for a luvvie luvv-in as I can imagine, but somehow, on Bafta night, some of the Oscar's excitement is always lacking.

The Oscars can make or break a career, but I don't honestly think The Baftas can. Come out of nowhere and get an Oscar for your appearance in a 'smaller' film and you'll be able to curb your rapid ascent by taking role in a silly action wannabe-a-blockbuster - just like Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry and Charlize Theron did. Can't see The Baftas giving you that option.

So, while The Bafta team might be batting better, their game just isn't in the same league.

What we want, really, is Stephen Fry hosting The Oscars.
