Is This Film Going To Be Funny? Is That Even Possible?

Here's a still from I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry, the upcoming Adam Sandler film in which he and Kevin James pretend to be a gay couple in order to swag benefit money. The current draft of the script was written by Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor, which inspires a great deal of confidence. Their scripting scores are regularly in the high 90s - witness Citizen Ruth, Election, About Schmidt and Sideways, not to mention an unproduced version of Jurassic Park 3. They may not have cooked the bad-sitcom plot up, but Payne and Taylor have certainly got the skills to turn it into something decent. Then, of course, Sandler, James and director Dennis Dugan have the power to turn it back into dreck.
