Channel Five have signed a contract to screen Australian soap Neighbours in the UK, snatching it from BBC One. The amazing part is that, over the full eight years of the agreement, they'll have to shell out around 300 million quid.

Yeah, the dude from the Beeb said on the news that they pulled out after their £300 million bid was rejected. That's a helluvalot of DR WHOs you could make for the dough instead. So C5 are paying more than that over the length of their contract. Spanners.
