(Okay, okay, there is dialogue at the end of the clip but it only made me cringe, not laugh, if anything)

Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Smart

SlashFilm have an interesting piece on a Get Smart side project. Apparently, Get Smarter: Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control is a companion film to the main Get Smart. Both are shooting now - Get Smart due in cinemas next summer, Get Smarter on DVD just 10 days later.

Smarter's leads are two secondary characters from Smart - one of them played by Masi Oka from Heroes. This is their Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. I'm assuming they get up to all kinds of wacky and 'scene stealing' antics in Smart.

According to Peter at Slashfilm, Warners aren't going to promote Get Smarter until after Get Smart's opening weekend. That won't give them much of a run-in. And as soon as they do, surely people are going to use the DVD spin-off as a way of testing the water before shelling out ten bucks a pop to see the big brother film at the multiplex? And if it isn't such a great side dish, surely it will hurt the main?

No idea if Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway will be cameoing in Get Smarter, but I would sincerely hope they do. Seems unfair, otherwise.

Brooks And Henry Give Smart, Get Cash

According to Harry Knowles, Buck Henry and Mel Brooks have signed on to fix Get Smart up a little. Good for them, and hopefully, very good for the film. I'm sad that Peter Segal got the directing gig here, I'd have gone for Rob Reiner. Yep, that popular choice.

I remember when I wasn't the only Rob Reiner fan in the world. I don't look forward to the day I'm to only Steve Carell one.

Horton Hears Who?

Variety have named Carol Burnett, Seth Rogen, Will Arnett, Isla Fisher, Dan Fogler, Amy Poehler, Dane Cook, Jaime Pressly and Jonah Hill as newly announced cast members for Horton Hears A Who. Jim Carrey and Steve Carell were already announced.

The film is now just one year and two days from release. That's just about the time frame Pixar had to fire the director, revamp the entire script, then restart storyboarding and animation from scratch on Ratatouille. That means Horton has no excuse for ending up rubbish.

Joss Whedon's New Directing Gig

It was just last week that I was defending the American version of The Office in the pub - I bet that doesn't happen every day, at least not in a 'real' pub in England - and now Joss Whedon comes out and confirms he'll be directing an episode.

If you wade through the discussion on the man's message board, you might miss his brief comment: " Yes, people, it's true. I am the ideal mate."

I think the episodes I saw from the second series of The Office: An American Workplace were much, much better than anything in the UK series, and it goes without saying that Steve Carell is a hugely more talented performer than Ricky Gervais. I've yet to see a single frame of the third year's episodes - how are they?
