Juicy Ratatouille Details

After the little ratty-nibbles of plot detail, here comes a list of names - confirmed by the Emeryville Giants themselves - that reveal just who has been at Pixar, recording voices for Ratatouille and signing their name on the wall of fame.

Patton Oswalt and Brad Garret were clear in the trailer. Add to them Brian Dennehy, Janeane Garofalo, Ian Holm and, of course, John Ratzenberger.

Cue Rats 'n' Burger gag? Who knows.

Pixar's Cars is in cinemas now, and I swear, it is a truly astonishing piece of work. Not only is it peerlessly handsome, perfectly designed to an almost cosmically incomprehensible level of detail and constructed with impeccable taste, it is a genuinely crowd pleasing, warm and emotionally honest film. Many of the themes and ideas are alien to the British sensibility, but for anybody interested in what makes the American national-psyche tick, there are some unexpected answers to be found in Cars.

The film shows the kind of craftsmanship only otherwise seen in a mere handful movies. This alone should be enough to make anyone - everyone - who loves moving images and the language of cinema go see it, again and again and again. I'm sutre that I could teach at least two years of a fully-rounded three year filmmaking course while referring only to Cars.
