Hostel 2 Schedule Screws With Death Proof

We've known for a while that Eli Roth is going to appear in Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, and it was reasonable to assume he was only making a brief cameo. The reality, I've just been told, is actually a little more complex.

Roth's part was never going to be huge one, but it was going to take a few days shooting. Once they'd started with him however, the shoot dates for Hostel 2 were prescribed by the studio and Roth had to depart for Prague, his Death Proof appearance only half-shot.

Obviously, this left Tarantino with a problem. The obvious thing to do would be to reshoot, but that's not quite Grind House enough. Taking a leaf from the Ray Dennis Steckler book of filmmaking, Tarantino's ultimate solution is a wild, weird and wonderful one.

Eli Roth's character is last seen sat at a table in a dialogue scene... and then... he's up and away... he's simply gone. He's just removed from the film and is never seen again.

His last line? "Do you want to see a magic trick?" Genius.

Death Proof is headed our way in the Spring, as is Hostel 2 - which might scupper the long standing plans for Roth to direct one of the fake trailers to appear between the features.
