Hot, Hot White Christmas

Jon Amiel's next is set in an incredilbe mileu: the fall of Saigon in 1975. The title will be 105 Degrees and Rising, part of an American military code at the time.

US Armed Forces Radio apparently had an agreed system to alert troops to evacuate. They'd claim that the temperature was 105 degrees and rising then play the intro to Bing's White Christmas. Any US citizens in the city now knew to scarper.

Amiel's film is a web of plotlines showing various characters trying escape before the Americans lost control of the city - and I'm bettting that the radio broadcast is used to let us know where and when in the plot we are as it skips back and forth in time.

The funding for the film is independent, so distribution isn't yet assured, but there's every possibilty this one will seem even more topical by the time production has been completed and it could prove to be quite a hot-topic movie.
